Lamborghini, the Italian supercar manufacturer has taken the first step towards the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The latest project, dubbed the Space Key, is a piece created in collaboration with an unknown artist. The NFT is an exclusive piece of digital art that can be accessible via an QR code. The project is limited and will be auctioned off within the next few weeks.
The Space Key is made from a carbon fiber composite material that Lamborghini sent to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of an experiment. Once it returned to earth the carbon fiber was crafted into this unique art. The physical component includes an NFT serial code that ties to the digital artwork through a QR code printed on the back.
For those who aren't in the know, NFTs are distinct identifiers recorded on a distributed blockchain ledger, and linked to a digital asset such as a photograph, video or music. This allows owners to ensure the authenticity, scarcity and tracking of their tokens across the internet.

Working with petron key to lamborghini The Keylab -label NFT solution for businesses, Lamborghini will take this unique approach to art to a new level. Over the next few weeks Lamborghini will reveal details about this exciting project, including the name of the unknown artist as well as a timeline for the auction.
The physical element of the Space Key
After a series of social media posts that tease something that was space-related, Italian supercar maker Lamborghini has entered the world of tokens that are not fungible (NFT) by launching an exclusive project dubbed Space Key. The NFT was developed in collaboration with an unknown artist and will go on auction within a few weeks. It is a piece of advanced carbon fiber composite material that was sent to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2019 as part of a research project. Carbon fiber was 3D printed for the base of each Space Key. Each Space Key is connected to a unique, digital artwork by way of a QR code. Only five Space Keys were produced.
NFTs are unique identifiers that can be recorded on distributed ledgers, such as the Blockchain and linked to digital assets such as images. It's a hot topic with people who have more money than they have common sense. It was only a matter of time until automakers decided to take advantage of.
Space Key consists of five units and was built using a physical piece of carbon fiber composite that was sent to the ISS in the year 2019. Each NFT will be connected to an exclusive digital artwork by the same artist using a QR code on the backside of the carbon fiber piece. More details will be shared in the coming weeks and days, including the name of the artist as well as the digital artwork, and how to purchase one of the five Space Keys.
The digital artwork
After several weeks of social media posts hinting at it, the luxury car manufacturer Lamborghini has finally revealed its first non-fungible token (NFT) project. The Space Key is a collection of five items that unlocks a unique digital artwork by the yet to be identified artist. It was created in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm) The collector's piece is limited to only five units and will be auctioned off shortly.
Each Space Key contains a block comprised of the most advanced carbon-fire composite material. It was sent to the International Space Station as part of a 2019 research program. After returning to Earth, it was imprinted with a QR code, which connects it to the digital element of the Space Key.
Each of the five Space Keys features a different moment that occurs at different times as the Lamborghini Ultimae takes off towards the stars. Each of the five images was captured by photographer Fabian Oefner and contains over 600 million pixels.
Oefner utilized a balloon with a camera, which took each of the individual shots that were then merged to create the final image. The result is a photograph that is completely out of the world. It captures the beauty of Earth and the futuristic, hyperrealistic look of a car rising from the Earth. The Space Keys are going to be auctioned in the near future, however there is no exact date or location as of yet.
